Albedo Recovery Using a Photometric Stereo Method

چکیده
This paper describes a method for the calculation of surface reflectance values via photometric stereo. Experimental results show that surfaces rendered with reflectance values calculated by the proposed method have more realistic appearances than those with constant albedo. 1 Center for Image Technology and Robotics Tamaki Campus, The University of Auckland, Auckland, New Zealand. 2 Agilent Technologies Laboratories, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA You are granted permission for the non-commercial reproduction, distribution, display, and performance of this technical report in any format, BUT this permission is only for a period of 45 (forty-five) days from the most recent time that you verified that this technical report is still available from the CITR Tamaki web site under terms that include this permission. متن کاملQuaternion-Based Albedo Recovery for Shape Reconstruction
A new quaternion based method is presented which recovers albedo for shape reconstruction from three color images for three directions of white light source. In the conventional approaches, red, green and blue components are considered separately so there is a loss of information. The albedo maps recovered are not accurate enough to recover shape. Property of quaternion is that a color can then...
متن کاملSolving the Uncalibrated Photometric Stereo Problem Using Total Variation
In this paper we propose a new method to solve the problem of uncalibrated photometric stereo, making very weak assumptions on the properties of the scene to be reconstructed. Our goal is to solve the generalized bas-relief ambiguity (GBR) by performing a total variation regularization of both the estimated normal field and albedo. Unlike most of the previous attempts to solve this ambiguity, o...

متن کاملMicrogeometry capture and RGB albedo estimation by photometric stereo without demosaicing
We present a photometric stereo-based system for retrieving the RGB albedo and the fine-scale details of an opaque surface. In order to limit specularities, the system uses a controllable diffuse illumination, which is calibrated using a dedicated procedure. In addition, we rather handle RAW, non-demosaiced RGB images, which both avoids uncontrolled operations on the sensor data and simplifies ...
